Introduction
Introduction:
High quality seeds is one of the most important factors in raising the level of agricultural both quantitatively and qualitatively, for that the Ministry of Agriculture has developed a successful program for the seed industry in Egypt and with the trend towards privatization in particular the Ministry paid the control of seed production special and highly attention to ensure the highest quality of service targets for the farmers on the one hand and the increase in yield production on the other.
The Central Administration for Seed testing and Certification (CASC) is the only authorized agency from the Ministry of Agriculture to maintain the quality of seed through the integrated quality control system for advancement of Egyptian seed industry, through a legislative framework, CASC participate in all stages of seed industry from the evaluation of the newly developed varieties and preparation for recording it in the national list of varieties that allowed for handling and trading, it also gives the permits for production as well as all licensing infrastructure operating in the seed industry after meeting the conditions in accordance with the rules and the established standards such as licenses of the seed conditioning plants, Refrigerators and storage of seed, seed trading places with the included storage , and related operations and activities such as inspection of the production seed fields from the beginning of planting till the harvesting to ensure the seed varital purity , identity ,disease-free ,and putting the certification labels on the seed packs.
The distinguished organizational structure of CASC allows for the adoption of seed presence in all the governorates and districts of Egypt , and ensure its participation in all activities related to oversight on the quality control of seed , according to the latest international system.
